LAKE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

 

 

Meeting Minutes for May 3, 2010


President Jim Dabbelt Called the May Lake Development Corporation meeting to order at 4:04 pm. In attendance were Owen Hall, Tom Knapke, Milt Miller, Greg Schumm, Doug Temple, Terry Wissman, Max Gilpin, Brian Miller, Ryan Garrison, Rick Bachelor, Kent Hinton, Frank Murray, and Todd Fleagle. The March meeting minutes were approved. (Murray/Schumm)

Treasurer M. Miller reported that all bills have been paid and the treasury balance stands at $2326.57. Approved (Murray/Fleagle).

 

 

Greg Schumm was assigned to officially record minutes of the meeting. Schumm then shared with the members that baseline data has been collected and testing of water quality is underway at the university for the Lake Restoration Research.


 

 

Milt Miller shared with the members that he and Brian Miller presented to the Breezewood home owners and LIA on Saturday, May 1st and to the St. Marys Sail Boat Club on Sunday, May 2nd. Both were informed on the progress of the Lake Restoration Commissions progress and fund drive.


 

 

Terry Wissman reported that the Lake Level is presently at +5”.


 

 

Rick Bachelor extended his thanks and appreciation to the State Parks for the continued work at Pullman Bay and West Bank Walkway.


 

 

Brian Miller reported for the State Parks:

  •  

     

    Press release on Monday morning concerning the Airy-Gators was well received with coverage from TV 35 Lima and Channel 7 Dayton, along with several newspapers.

  •  

     

    Airy-Gators were turned on Friday, April 30th as a test run.

  •  

     

    Toxin level readings on the lake are presently at 0.9, well below the State level of concern.

  •  

     

    First Collector is scheduled to be delivered May 17th with installation at Site #3.

  •  

     

    New Barge has arrived and will be tremendous asset to Lake St. Marys.

  •  

     

    The DMBA at Northwood is complete and ready for filling.

  •  

     

    Boat House on West Bank received final inspection and is ready for occupancy.


Brian once again reminded the members of the tremendous work that Mr. Milt Miller has done in the organizing and campaigning for funds. We all extend our sincere thanks to Milt for his time and commitment to this Lake Restoration Project.

 

 

Max Gilpin, on behalf of the St. Marys Boat Club, extended his appreciation on the presentation given by Milt and Brian on the Grand Lake Restoration Project.


 

 

Ryan Garrison reported on behalf of the Department of Wildlife:

    Turkey season is going well, reporting that 11 gobblers have been taken in Mercer County compared to just 3 last year at this time. Also, fishing has picked up with good catches of blue gill, crappie, bass and channel cats.
