    1. Approve funding for an out of State independent water analysis to determine what levels of hormones, pesticides, and/or industrial chemicals, if any, are contained in the lake water.
    2. Report all findings to the LIA membership.
    3. Support study and research into the causes of toxic cyanobacteria blooms.
  1. Support the Lake Restoration Commission
    1. Continue to support LIA board members that are active with the Lake Restoration Commission.
    2. Publically support the LRC through continued financial assistance, the LIA web-site and verbally at LIA meetings.
    3. Support LRC fund raising activities; i.e., duck races, tip the waiter nights; etc.
    4. Provide financial assistance for the LRC initiative to secure a relationship with a political consultant.
    5. Report all pertinent LRC activities to the LIA membership through the web-site.
  2. Fund Raising
    1. Step-up multiple fund raising activities to include at least one off-season fund raiser; i.e., Monte Carlo night, family bowling tournament; etc.
    2. Establish a 1-2 person LIA Board liaison team to assist the Barstool Open committee in every way possible to assure record proceeds.
    3. Continue to support merchandise sales through the web-site and tee shirt sales at LIA meetings.
    4. Identify and obtain additional funds from the business community and through grant resources.
  3. Membership and Outreach
    1. Appoint a membership committee chaired by a trustee, but predominately staffed by LIA members at large.
    2. Identify and recognize those in attendance at “each” LIA meeting who have brought in at least one new member the past month.
    3. Identify strategies that offer a greater opportunity for the LIA membership to join and participate in the 2011 LIA action plan.
    4. Develop a strategy for building a larger coalition of concerned organizations including national interests.
    5. Tweak and update the web-site with an educational series, and send such to regional news media.
    6. Solicit the help of an investigative journalist to tell our whole story.
  4. Political Advocacy and Legal Action
    1. Develop a non-partisan political action strategy with clearly defined objectives that can effectively direct the LIA’s interaction with all elected officials.
    2. Continue all political interfaces with all public officials at the local, state and federal levels.
    3. Widely distribute the LRC Strategic Plan for Grand Lake St. Marys to all interested parties, organizations and news bureaus.
    4. Identify opportunities for elected officials to go on record with their support for restoring Grand Lake St. Marys.
    5. Continue to use the web-site and other venues to “urge” the membership to contact their legislators.
    6. Determine an appropriate legal strategy pertaining to all political and enforcement issues that relate to the timely meeting of lake restoration objectives and be prepared to exercise such strategy in the event that those objectives are not met.

The action plan includes an independent study to identify pesticides, industrial chemicals and hormones in the lake. Does that mean cyanotoxins will not be included? Also has there been any thought to air monitoring? Is it possible for these contaminants to be aerosolized depending on concentrations, humidity, temperature and wind?
