GLWWA Watershed Action Plan
September 25th 2007From Bill Ringo:
Members of the U. S. A. targeted watersheds grant program
On behalf of the over 600 family and business members of the Lake Improvement Association, we wish to express our support for the grant application being submitted by the Grand Lake Wabash Watershed Alliance.
The Ohio EPA has designated the Wabash Watershed as one of Ohio's most degraded in water quality and diversification. The majority of the watershed is listed on Ohio's 303(d) list of impaired watersheds.
The proposed grant funds would be used to establish proven best management practices on the land within the watershed. The Lake Improvement Association has been actively engaged in quality-of-life projects surrounding Grand Lake St. Marys for nearly 60 years, and we stand ready to provide any assistance to move this grant request forward.
GLWWA Summary
The Grand Lake/Wabash River Watershed Action Plan outlines the following best management practices (BMPs), both agricultural and non-agricultural, that have the potential to improve water quality in our watershed. These practices have been prioritized within the two categories to allow us to focus our efforts and available funding to those BMPs which will have the most impact.
