Wabash River Hypoxia Meeting

  • Area includes Grand Lake St. Marys and Wabash River Watershed
  • First of a series of meetings will be in Mercer County

Wabash 319 Grant Application

Litter Cleanup Grant

  • Sponsoring trail logo contest
  • $2,500 for signs and cleanup along Franklin Township Recreational Trail
  • Short timeframe: March 1 to June 1, 2009

Lake Geotextile Tube Project

  • If water level stays low, may start in spring.
  • NRCS Conservation Innovation Grant
  • Partner with Grand Lake St. Marys State Park

Project SWEETER

  • Enviroscape received
  • Training in March
  • Partners include Lake Improvement Association, Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, Mercer County Health Department, Mercer County Solid Waste District, Ohio Farm Bureau and Mercer SWCD

Tillage Transect

  • 2007 Fall tillage transect showed Grand Lake watershed with less tillage and more cover crop
  • Fall route completed, compiling data

GLWWA Watershed Action Plan

  • Combined plan endorsed May 14, 2008
  • 2008 End of year revisions accepted

Qualified Data Collector Project

  • Quality assurance plan and study plan comments received from OEPA
  • Working on comments for Level II plan
  • Need to plan refresher and set times to meet with each Qualified Data Collector when weather break

Septic System Self-Assessment

  • Working with Mercer County Health Department
  • Goal is to bring awareness to septic system maintenance
  • Plan to mail self assessment in Spring newsletter

Soil Sample Cost Share $5

  • Giving presentation about program at All Employees Meeting
  • Worked with Helena Agronomic Center
  • Hoping to have 2009 program

Grand Lake Agriculture Leadership Clas

  • Fourth session discussed agriculture finances and the agriculture family busines
  • Next will be field trips on March 12, 2009
  • Class includes trip to Chicago, including tour of Board of Trade

Grand Lake St. Marys Regional Trail Group

  • Potential partner for stream restoration and wetland protection
  • Future partner for water trails or scenic designation

Enviroscape/Ground Water Model/Project Learning Tree/Project WET/Project WILD/Passport

  • Watershed Education Grant Canceled
  • Looking at Healthy Water Healthy People Training
  • Enviroscape received, training in March

Implementation Grant Meeting

  • City of St. Marys Council, February 23, 2009, Council Chamber
  • Celina City Council, 7 p.m. March 9, 2009, Celina Water Treatment Plant Meeting Room
  • Every government body in the watersheds will eventually be visited for a brief overview of Watershed Project and Implementation Grant.
